FAQs
Please click here for the Meet our Families page.
Please ask for an activation receipt at checkout and include this receipt when dropping off your RFTS envelope and gift card.
If it is not included, our volunteer team has to call and check each card in advance of giving it to our families.
There is no correct amount to donate, every family is different. When planning your giving, please use your discretion. However, if you sign up for a slot designated for grocery stores or Walmart, we would recommend you allocate a minimum of $75 due to the high price of food. If you have a specific question, please contact the RFTS team at the address below.
Please place your gift card(s) in the Reason for the Season envelope that was sent home in your student’s backpack. Complete the information on the front of the envelope as it will assist our volunteers in cross-referencing with the sign-up form.
Mark your calendars!!!! Envelopes will be collected on November 18, 19, and 20 in the following locations:
Junior School - RFTS elves will be in the upper parking lot at school entrances during drop-off and pick-up hours on the collection dates.
Senior School - There will be an RFTS collection box with Ashley at the front desk. If you take the school bus, feel free to drop the envelope off with one of the RFTS elves at the Junior School.

Absolutely! If you feel compelled to support additional families, or if your grade is full, please sign up for any items you wish!
No problem! Your RFTS email confirmation will contain all of your sign-up information (Item, family # and member), please check your junk folder for an email from [email protected]. There is also a search bar at the top of the sign-up page where you can search by name.
There are several meaningful ways to involve your children in the Reason for the Season initiative. We encourage children to create cards with messages of encouragement and positivity, which we include in the gift packages for families. If your child would like to participate, please drop off these cards along with the gift card envelopes on the designated collection dates.
Additionally, feel free to discuss the program and some of the challenges these families are facing at a level you feel is appropriate. To further support understanding and empathy, a representative from the George Hull Centre recently spoke to our students at assembly about ways they can help make a difference in their community.

Feel free to sign up for a line item under your name on their behalf.
While we appreciate all offers, please contact one of our members of the RFTS team to see if it would be an appropriate match for our families.
Although convenient for many of us, E-Gift Cards will not be accepted. The families we are supporting may not have regular access to computers and printers.
This year, there are many ways to make a significant difference for families in need.
There are a number of significant requests that would improve the quality of life for these families in meaningful ways. These include essentials like space heaters, blankets, school uniforms, a washing machine, along with educational tools like laptops, a guitar, and access to swim passes. If you would like to contribute any of these items, please refer to the Above and Beyond page.
This holiday season, your generosity can go even further!
One amazing family from our community has pledged to match every grocery or Walmart Gift Card donation of $500 or more supporting the Above and Beyond RFTS program, with up to $10,000 cash. This means your gift will have double the impact – letting us support even more families to meet their basic needs this holiday season.
If you are interested, please contact Tania Da Fonseca at [email protected].
RTFS families are incredibly grateful to receive support from KCS families at this time of year.
